Women&#8217;s groups from Serbia and Vojvodina<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CSD:<\/strong><span>\u00a021.000,00 \u2013 the costs of bus renting Belgrade-Novi Sad-Belgrade<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Name of the project:<\/strong><span>\u00a0\u201cProtest of women&#8217;s groups against fascism \u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Project goal:<\/strong><span>\u00a0On December 10, 2005 activists of various organizations, predominantly women&#8217;s groups from Belgrade and Novi Sad organized a protest meeting in Novi Sad, capital of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The gathering was a response to attack of a group of neonacists on the participants and organizers of antifascist public discussion in the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad on November 9, International Day Against Fascism, when 25 aggressive young men with naci slogans tried to break the gathering by abuse, threats and physical attacks. Novi Sad was of special interest to antifascist groups concerning recent political domination of Serbian Radical Party in the city, and the attacks on Women in Black. Women activists from Novi Sad hosted the group coming from Belgrade and other cities of Serbia, by bus on December 10, to make a manifestation on the main square \u2013 antifascist performance and a long and loud march through the central streets, with slogans against violence, fascism, war heroes, clericalism and for human rights, women&#8217;s human rights, antimilitarism and peace.\u00a0<\/span><span>After the demonstration, the protesters organized a panel with comprehensive local reports on human rights from different cities in Serbia. The meeting took place in the main hall of the Parliament of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The protest was reported by national TV news and was one of the initiatives which contributed to making clear public picture on extremism and violence, made pressure on institutions to react on activities of various fascist and clero-nationalistic organizations. The whole process opened a debate on democracy and tolerance, and challenged national politicians and current right wing political orientation.
