This group was organized in 2000 within informal organization \u201cOtpor\u201d (Resistance) who was one of the most important stakeholders against totalitaristic regime of Slobodan Milosevic and overall economic and social regression in society. \u201cOtpor\u201d was mostly organization of young people \u2013 students and secondary-school pupils, mostly female, who were treated by regime as a terrorists and permanently were exposed to the police repression and physical brutalities. At that time, the citizens in Serbia mostly remained silent and blind on this oppression and didn\u2019t protested against brutal beating up and arresting of these young people. That\u2019s the moment when some mothers of \u201cOtpor\u201d members, but also women without children, decided to react, to organize themselves and to start public political activities against regime. That\u2019s how women\u2019s group \u201cResistant Mothers\u201d from Novi Sad started with their engagement which represents the way of breaking the stereotypes on women and mothers as \u201cweak human beings\u201d, who are staying at homes and waiting the results of incidents where the main actors are men. Appearance of Resistant Mothers on public political scene in Serbia is very important moment of perceiving women and their role in society differently. This text about Resistant Mothers was made on English only and accidentally found on the web site of Romanian Gender studies.
