“Žanka”, documentary film

In the documentary “Žanka“, Žanka Stojanović, mother of Nebojša Stojanović, one of the 16 people sacrificed during the bombing of Radio Television Serbia, speaks out about her struggles. 

Although war is criminal by itself, human civilisation put the rules of waging war, punishable to brake. One of the basic principles is protection of civilians and this is obligatory for all conflicting sides. During bombing of Serbia by NATO forces, on April 23, 1999, TV station in Belgrade was bombed in spite of knowledge that a number of civilians were in the building.  Those responsible for the safety in TV station did not dislocate the employees, although aware the building was going to be bombed. Serbian government decided to sacrifice the TV workers that night. 16 people lost their lives. This conjoint criminal act has not still been elucidated, only general director of Radio Television Serbia (RTS) was indicted.
