1. Women‘s Association Expansion, Brodarevo

RSD: 250.000

Activities‘ title: Increasing feminist impact through struggle against violence against women through rural associations of women in South-western Serbia 

The aim of the acitivities is maintaining the continuity of feminist impact among women members of rural women associations and their empowerment to work on improving women’s human rights and struggle against violence against women in their communities, as well as providing support to women violence survivors. The activities imply organizing public events in five municipalities of South-western Serbia related to the campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. 

2. Women for the Community, Kragujevac

Activities’ title: It’s time

The Women for the Community group emerged from an initiative of women in Kragujevac, gathered for empowerment and protecting gender rights. The activities branch into two directions: educating women for acquiring political skills for participation in local politics and a performance highlighting social inequalities.  

3. Women for Peace, Leskovac

RSD: 450.000 

Activities’ title: Women build strength, community builds support 

The activities aim to become a safe anchor in the community for women and girls who have survived male violence in Jablanica District, through SOS phone support, psychological counseling, psychotherapy and empowerment workshops, as the group continues to build space where women gain voice, strength and self-confidence to quit silence and take their place in a world without violence. The goals is a community that doesn’t tolerate violence, but it confronts it bravely instead. A community of solidarity, support and resistance, where women create their lives freely, liberated from fear, led by dignity, freedom and equal rights. 

4. Academic Initiative Forum 10, Novi Pazar

Activities’ title: Seventh regional gathering “What is to be done?”

During 2020, Women in Black (Belgrade), Center for Women‘s and Peace Education „Anima“ (Kotor) and Academic initiative „Forum 10“ (Novi Pazar) started a regional gathering of activists, academic community members, journalists, independent intelectuals and politicians from Montenegro and Serbia. The aim of these encounters is information sharing, exchange of opinions and critical reflection on political and social situation in regional countries. The need for making such space emerged from the specific political circumstances marking the change of regime in Montenegro in 2020 elections, strengthening impact of Serbian Orthodox Church, growing prominence of clericalization and militarization of the society, as well as increased interference of the government of Serbia with internal issues of Montenegro. Worries because of unmet expectations from alleged or real changes, as well as fear of the mentioned negative tendencies, are still present among a part of freethinking citizens. 

5. Mahala, Novi Pazar

Activities‘ title: Mahala – women‘s editorial team

„Mahala – women‘s editorial team“ is newly formed editorial team within the A1 media, with a clear focus on feminist subjects in Sandžak. Thematic framework of the editorial team encompasses violence against women, workplace discrimination, reproductive and health rights, as well as women‘s safety in public spaces. The aim of the activities is to use tets, short videos and anonymous surveys to ensure safe space for women to share their eperiences and translate those experiences into visible media content. That way, the collective aims to contribute to increased public awareness about gender inequality and opening space for social change. Through these activities, Mahala editorial team wants to persevere as a place of continuity of feminist journalism in Novi Pazar and Sandžak – a place which doesn‘t only ocassionally react to incidents and attacks, but systemically follows women‘s problems, documents them and publishes content that entices solidarity and opens dialogue in the community. 

6. Centar for supporting local community Mome, Pirot

Activities‘ title: Women‘s Solidarity Club Pirot 

Women‘s Solidarity Club Pirot is a place where women gather, learn adn socialize, exchange experiences and plan joint solidarity actions. It is a safe space hosting diverse events corresponding to the needs of Pirot women from vulnerable groups, it promotes women‘s achievements in various areas and develops programs contributing struggle against militarism, racism and fascism. 

7. Civil Association Diva, Pirot

Activities‘ title: Feminist Network of Young Roma Women

The activities gather young Roma women, who continue with activism started through a fgeminist school. In three groups working with mentors, the participants will develop workshops and include new girls/women from their communities. The goal is to expand feminist knowledge, strengthen solidarity and create a network of young women who persistently confront racism, nationalism and all forms of discrimination. After several months of work, all the groups will unite in a joint gathering – a big event dedicated to connecting, and empowering women of marginalited groups, primarily young Roma girls/women, promotion of non-violence, freedom and self-organizing.

8. Children‘s Centre Zaječar

Activities‘ title: The Last One

Theatre play „The Last One“ was created as a direct response to experiences and cognitions obtained by the group through the previous play „I haven‘t reported“, which opened an important dialogue on the culture of silence in the Balkans. Femicide, as a serious social problem, overcomes the borders of individual countries and requires regional collaboration. The activities are envisioned as a series of stage performances performed by young Balkan activists, creating space for empowerment, support and solidarity. Conducting activities includes performing in the region, followed by discussions with experts and activitst. With this, the team aims to use arts and dialogue to shed a light on the issue of femicides, impact raising the public awareness and entice a more efficient legal framework for protecting women. The play will be performed within the 16 Days of Activism in Peć, Novi Pazar and Tutin. In addition, through „Regional map of women‘s voices“, the collective is following the pathways of the play and emotions of participants and audience, documenting their reactions and impressions in written and visual forms, later shared on digital platforms. The map will be presented in Skoplje in Februar, where the play will be performed with the inclusion of activist from Northern Macedonia. 

9. Non-formal group, Zrenjanin

Activities‘ title: Bečkerek 1991, phase 2

An anthology of texts and illustrations is devoted to the Bečkerek newspaper, a weekly publication of civic and anti-war orientation issued by a group of independent journalists in Zrenjanin in 1991. Divided into thematic blocs, texts present memories of contributors and contemporaries of the newspaper, as well as scientific-journalistic contributions about Bečkerek from a distance of over 30 years. The anthology also contains selected texts and cartoons published in the newspaper, and through QR codes, it enables access to the archive of digitalized issues. Besides promoting thorough democratic principles and culture of public dialogue, the project reaffirms the marginalized heritage of oppositional anti-nationalist engagement and anti-war civil movement of the 1990s in the current public discourse. 

10. City for Everyone, Belgrade

Activities‘ title: Housing challenges for women in Belgrade – organizing perspectives (phase 1)

The activities imply an action research of problems faced by women in Belgrade regarding housing. High rents, loans, impossibility of emancipation from parents or partner, the burden of living expenses are just some of them. The collective wants to get to know what is bothering the majority of their women fellow-citizens and gain the idea on how to organize together to fight for better living conditions. The research will be conducted with a sample of around 350 women in collaboration with partner organizations and unions.

11. Rebellious Readers, Belgrade

Activities‘ title: Štefica Cvek – Post-Yugoslav selection of feminist, queer and rebellious literature

Štefica Cvek is a non-competitive regional literary selection. It is a selection of the best works written in BHSC and Macedonian language in the previous publishing year, made from feminist, anti-fascist, ecological, anti-colonial and other leftist perspectives. The goal of the selection is an intervention into the mainstream regional literatures, which do not recognize feminist and queer literatures as artistically valuable, but which also marginalize progressive poetics. Štefica Cvek is organized by Rebellious Readers from Serbia, Booksa/Kulturtreger from Croatia, Naratorium from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Coallition Margins from Northern Macedonia.
