1. ACT Women, Belgrade
- CSD: 37.800,00
- Name of the project: “Limits: What holds us in? What keeps us out?”
- Project goal: Along their activities Act Women have been organized workshops for women activists with the aim to empower them to work on their voice and body as well as to question certain social taboos that are stirring up the stereotypes that women have about their bodies. From the other side, it helps women activists to recognize body signals which warn them of too much stress that they are exposed to. Since 2005, ACT Women have cooperated with Buildingbloc Collective from San Francisco on multidisciplinary project and performance based on issues of limits and the ways how to oppose it. Both groups work on synthesis of art and activism and social problems like violence against women, gentrification, racism, homophobia. Using the theatric techniques, they transform these problems to make them more readable for public. Unexpectedly, Buildingbloc Collective secured the funds to come to Belgrade and that’s the unique opportunity for local women’s activists to meet them and participate in workshops and intensive voice and body trainings for exploration of personal limits and social context that creates these limits.
